MFT and FIT-C installed in ALICE
Two new detectors, constructed and tested during LS2, were installed inside the ALICE magnet on the 1st December 2020. One is the Muon Forward Tracker (MFT), aimed to enhance the vertexing capability of the ALICE muon spectrometer. It consists of five disks of silicon pixel sensors placed between the ITS inner barrel and the front absorber of the muon spectrometer. The other is the Fast Interaction Trigger (FIT), which will be the primary forward trigger, luminosity, and collision time measurement detector. It will also determine multiplicity, centrality, and reaction plane of heavy ion collisions.
